Abstract

Chisocheton erythrocarpus Hiern, a plant from Meliaceae family, has been studied. Collected from Hutan Simpan Terenas in Kedah, the leaves and bark parts of this plant were dried and grounded before phytochemical study was performed. The chromatographic separation on the dichloromethane extracts (after defatted with hexane) of leaves and bark parts gave eleven compounds – six known and five new. Five known compounds were isolated from leaves part, belonging to triterpenoid group, were identified as dammaradienone 115, moronic acid 116, niloticin 117, 24, 25-epoxy-23-hydroxy-7- tirucallene-3-ol 118, and 23,24-epoxy-25-hydroxy-7-tirucallene-3-one 119. Five new and one known compounds were isolated from bark part. The new compounds were named as erythrocarpine A-E (120, 122-125) while the known compound was identified as khayasin B 121.
