This study aimed to assess the current status of the CMCS library and to identify the library users' needs and information seeking. The target population in the study was the CMCS library users. This study primarily used a questionnaire for data collection. A total of 203 copies of the questionnaires were sent out to them, and 116 (57.1%) responded. The annual budget for the library collection was RM12,000. The technological level of the CMCS library was poor. The main item in the library was books. The Chinese books comprised 83.6 % of the total books available. There were around 700,000 newspaper clippings. The library only offered two services to its users namely the enquiry and photocopying services. The majority of the respondents were Malaysian in the 20-29 age brackets. The respondents relied on books, Internet and newspaper clippings. Most of the respondents were aware of the electronic resources such as online database, e-Library and e—Books. About 47.4% of the respondents spent 2-4 hours during each visit to the library. The majority of the respondents were registered library members. The library photocopying service, books, journals and magazines were rated as "Fair", while the library staff service and newspaper clippings in library were rated as "Good'. 50.9% of the respondents noted that the CMCS library had shown a good performance while 43.1% of the respondents indicated that the library collections could fulfil their 50-74% information needs. Some suggestions given by the respondents were to reduce the photocopying fee, to provide OPAC and Internet access, and to increase the quantity and quality of library collections.
