Abstract

<span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 9pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: \'Times New Roman\'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA\">LiMn2O4 was synthesized using the sol-gel method The precursor material was then heated at 600 degreesC to stabilize the material. The final material was then characterized by taking the x-ray diffraction of the material. The material was then used in the fabrication of the cathode. A type of carbon blend was used to fabricate the anode. A chitosan based electrolyte was prepared and made into thin layers by the solution cast technique. Their electrical characteristics was measured and the conductivity was computed. A battery with LiMn2O4 as the cathode, chitosan as the electrolyte and carbon as the anode was later assembled. The performance of the batteries was tested and capacity studies made.</span>
